The newly appointed Board Members of the Mining and Minerals Regulatory Authority (MMRA) has been oriented on its mandate and operational framework during a two-day induction meeting held from 22 – 23 January at Ekhaya Resort in Mangochi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting aimed to equip Board members with a clear understanding of the Authority\u2019s functions, governance responsibilities and strategic direction in regulating Malawi\u2019s mining sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the sessions, the Board Members were taken through the core functions of the Mining and Minerals Regulatory Authority, their specific roles and responsibilities as Board members, as well as the legal and policy framework guiding the institution. Presentations also highlighted key activities that have already been implemented and outlined planned activities aimed at strengthening regulation, oversight and sustainable development of the mining industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, several Board committees were constituted during the meeting, with chairs and members duly appointed. The establishment of these committees is intended to ensure effective and immediate commencement of work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
